In New Zealand, Lime Scooters have broken the ice for many people, and made scootering more socially acceptable. But is renting a Lime Scooter a better option? If you took a very occasional short trip in a central area on flattish terrain, we would say that you should continue to rent a Lime Scooter. But rental costs add up, and a Lime Scooter at $18/hr could quickly become an expensive habit! Plus, will you always have one when you need one? And if you have some decent hills to climb, forget it. They aren't built for that use. Better to invest in your own PEV (Personal Electric Vehicle), and have your transport and fun-machine on hand whenever you need it!
You will find our scooters are designed with different purposes in mind. For example, the Inokim Quick 3 provides a wide and stable platform, and is low geared for excellent climbing ability, even though it is 'only' 400 watts output, whereas the Light 2 is not as strong a climber, but has a very rigid and solid frame that locks out very firmly, and performs beautifully in less hill terrain and with lighter riders, so would be a better option for perhaps teenage kids riding to school, for example.

Despite scooter regulations not requiring use of a helmet when scootering, we strongly recommend you use protective headgear, and we have a selection of helmets available in-store. It is vital to get good advice at the buying stage, to make sure the e-scooter you are considering is a good physical match for you, and is also capable of performing as you want it to. They are often more practical than an e-bike, and can be stored in small spaces, such as under the bed in an apartment.
